The 2026 model year will mark the final year of production for Cadillac's compact sedan. There is no official word on a replacement for the time being, but hope remains. It's worth remembering that the Cadillac CT4 arrived on the market in 2019 as the successor to the ATS. More athletic, more modern, and more serious than its predecessor, the new sedan immediately won over the public. Personally, it's a car I've always liked and one I strongly recommend, so it goes without saying that its departure saddens me.
This year, the starting price of Cadillac's compact luxury sedan is set at $47,225, which places it right in the middle of the segment. The CT4 makes the brand more accessible, and don't assume you're only getting a small taste of what Cadillac has to offer. The sedan comes standard with a very generous list of features, whether we're talking about comfort, technology, design, or performance.
The Cadillac CT4 is available in two additional trims in its regular lineup, starting with the Premium model at $51,125, followed by the Sport trim at $54,425. That's not all, as the sedan also offers two higher-performance variants. First, there's the CT4-V, which remains a refined and everyday-friendly car with a starting price of $61,325. If you're looking for something more extreme and aggressive, the CT4-V Blackwing has everything needed to win you over. That said, it comes at a higher price, starting at $76,325. What truly makes it exceptional—and significantly more desirable than its rivals—is the availability of a manual transmission.
Luxury subcompact sedans have become increasingly rare in recent years, which may explain Cadillac's decision to retire the CT4 in order to make room for a model in a more popular segment. That said, the compact sedan from the American automaker is still around for a little while longer, and it's worth enjoying while it lasts. It delivers an outstanding driving experience, with an overall character best described as a perfect balance between performance and luxury.
Rivals: Acura Integra, Audi A3, BMW 2 Series, Mercedes-Benz CLA
Unlike the CT5, the CT4 features a more classic silhouette combined with modern design elements, a combination that works very well overall. In my opinion, the compact sedan shows even more character than its larger sibling, especially in its sportier trims. Cadillac made excellent choices when it comes to colors and wheel designs, which further enhance the CT4's appeal.
The CT4's interior may not be as modern as those found in some of the brand's newer models, but it remains elegant nonetheless. Comfort is plentiful, and build quality is impeccable. As for technology, the systems are efficient, and the infotainment interface is smooth and intuitive to use.
The Cadillac CT4 offers four different powertrain options, which is significantly more than what most competitors provide. The lineup begins with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Next up is the turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine, available in an initial configuration producing 310 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque.
The CT4-V adds an extra dose of excitement, delivering 325 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. In both cases, a 10-speed automatic transmission comes standard, and all-wheel drive is available as an option. For those seeking even more performance, the CT4-V Blackwing is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V6 producing 472 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque. Buyers can choose between a 10-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual. In either case, rear-wheel drive is the only available drivetrain.
Rear-seat space and trunk capacity are not among its strengths. Pricing also rises quickly from one trim level to the next.
It's a well-balanced, high-performing, and truly luxurious car. It offers excellent value for the money and provides several options that are not available from its rivals.
The 2026 Cadillac CT4 is one of the compact luxury cars that offers the most for your money on the market today.
The departure of the CT4 will leave a noticeable gap in Cadillac's lineup. One thing is certain: it's a car that will be remembered.
